Ubuntu WiFi ASUS PCE-AC88 AC3100 Problem
by danmartinj from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WADT)
Hello,
I have been struggling with Ubuntu and my WiFi card for many months now. Since it is a secondary machine with dual boot I have been letting it slide. However, I have lost too much time with it now and cannot afford any more lost time but before I move on I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas.
I have been troubleshooting by building various new drivers using references such as here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1072...n-ubuntu-18-04
https://gist.github.com/picchietti/3...b0f57aa75f6556
The card I have is ASUS PCE-AC88 AC3100 4x4 802.11AC PCIe Adapter.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The main problem (reliability) is the interface does not stay connected to my Access Point. Also, the card often does not see my 5GHz AP which is the main reason I bought such an expensive NIC. Sometimes I have to rebuild the driver and restart just to get it connected again. So does anyone have any pointers?
Since I expect this problem will not be resolved my other question is does anyone know of a good PCI based and reliable NIC that works well for ubuntu. Ideally, it should be able to handle 5GHz.
Thanks for any help, comments, advice,
Joe
