Report: Beckham was stunned by trade, still unsure of fit with Browns
Odell Beckham Jr. is still recovering from his initial shock at being traded from the New York Giants last offseason and remains uncertain about his fit with the Cleveland Browns, reports Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson.
"I think he was in disbelief when (the trade) first went down," a source close to the receiver told Robinson. "I mean, I think he was just pretty much stunned it happened and he's been dealing with that adjustment and other things ever since. He's a very emotional person. I think there is just a lot going on in his head when it comes to where he's at with his career."
"He's lost," a second source said. The source added, "Fame got to him, he made bad choices, (and) now he has to redeem himself. And the road to redemption isn't an easy one when you have an ego."
Robinson's sources confirmed Sunday's report that the star wideout encouraged opposing players and coaches to pry him loose from the Browns.
The 27-year-old reportedly made the comments during at least one game in October.
Beckham's frustrations also stem from playing through a sports hernia that will apparently require offseason surgery and his understanding that his performances haven't met his standards in 2019.
Despite ongoing rumors, the two-time Pro Bowler denied on multiple occasions that he is unhappy in Cleveland.
Beckham is signed through 2023, but the Browns would only absorb a $2.75-million cap hit if they trade or release him this offseason, according to Spotrac.
