wl adapter keeps disappearing

I am running elementary OS and after an unpredictable time my wl device which is called wlp2s0 just vanishes and I can't connect to any wifi & when I run iwconfig it's just gone and there is nothing I've been able to find that will make it come back unless I restart my pc, I've tried nmcli radio wifi off - on & sudo ifconfig wlp2s0 up but nothing seems to work.
