sbo freeimage slackbuild

The slackbuild.org slack build for FreeImage fails. My attempts to compile it manually also fail. I am using slackware 64 (alienbob multilib) current as of November 14th. Has anyone recently gotten FreeImage to compile and if so, how? Thank you.
