Report: Browns want to keep Kitchens as HC long term

The Cleveland Browns are remaining supportive of Freddie Kitchens despite their rookie head coach's disappointing first season at the helm.

Barring a further collapse to end the season, the Browns intend to keep Kitchens in the position long term, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

The Browns enter Week 15 with a 6-7 record despite a star-studded roster. They remain in the hunt for a playoff spot but would need to win their final three games and get some help to reach the postseason.

Kitchens' rookie season has been rife with drama. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been the subject of trade speculation, franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield criticized the team's medical staff for their handling of Beckham's sports hernia injury, and star pass-rusher Myles Garrett was suspended indefinitely after he ripped the helmet off Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph's head and hit him in the skull with it in Week 11.

The Browns entered the season with expectations to reach the postseason and contend for a division title, but they opened the year 2-6. They've rattled off wins in four of their last five games to keep hope alive.
