Thinkpad HDMI to Samsung Smart (sic) TV
by dancog from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WKKX)
I'm using an old Thinkpad x120e because it has an HDMI port to connect to the Samsung Smart TVs in the classrooms at my school. The display comes on on both the laptop and the TV but the programs I want to run show up on one or the other display, not both! The mouse pointer shows up on the TV but not the laptop, the openoffice splash screen shows up on the TV but the word processor shows up on the laptop. The root menu shows up on the TV and then the selected menu item shows up on the laptop. It's schizophrenia I believe.
For reference, booting into Windows 7 gives a normal display on both monitors. 1366x768.
I've tried changing resolutions with xrandr to no avail, and I really don't know what else to look at in this situation.
