Wi-Fi running at half speed.

Hi, 1st post here.
Running a Vista era Compaq Presario CQ60-420US notebook.
Running Debian 10.
Problem is when running Vista I can obtain 50mbps, when running Debian I can at best 30mbps.
It appears to have this network card: Atheros AR5007 802.11 b/g.
Any help getting this up to speed would be great.
