moving permanently to open source domain
by ITinerant from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4WVZ9)
I'm not an IT newbie I've been working in the industry since 1987.
Recently I've been moving some large mainframe proprietary systems to open source.
I've developed reasonable scripting ability etc and enjoying the freedom and flexibility of open source but it just feels different to the proprietary type of domain.
I've got a few years left to work and think this may be the way forward.. they've all moved from big iron to smaller servers etc.
Any advice on languages and areas to concentrate on etc? Thanks
