Silly question: In chapter 6 we do follow the same install instructions from 5.3, right?

This is a possibly silly question but I want to make sure I get the steps correct. I just want to avoid a misstep if I misunderstood something earlier in chapter 6.
For the compilation steps in chapter 6 (starting with 6.7 Linux API headers) I'm assuming we are supposed to follow the same per-package installation instructions provided in section 5.3, correct? i.e. untar the source, cd to the new dir, follow the instructions for that section, then cd back to the sources dir and delete the dir we just extracted.
Thanks.
