Changing from KDE to Gnome presents a blank unresponsive screen, even on re-boot
by Crb999 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4X44T)
I'm running 64 bit Suse Leap 15.1 on a Dell and apart from a few niggling problems, it's been ok.
This morning I zyppered in gdm and switched to gnome to see if any of the spurious problems I am having, would go away.
Things have got nasty!
I went through the process of chnging the keyboard to suit then logged out as requested to impliment the change.
I have not been able to do anything since!
The screen is blank and I can move the cursor on it but there is no other action possible.
I eventually turned the computer off by holding the off key for 10 seconds. However, when I switched on again, I was just returned to this blank screen.
Using the function keys to move out of this locked screen, does not work.
Any clues as to what I might try next?
