Report: Marvin Lewis considered strong candidate for Redskins' HC job

Former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is considered a strong candidate for the Washington Redskins' vacant head coaching job, Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.

Interim coach Bill Callahan has been in charge of the Redskins since the NFC East club fired Jay Gruden in October amid an 0-5 start.

Washington now sits 3-12, currently carrying a three-game losing streak. The Redskins are averaging 16.7 points and 274.9 yards per game, both second-worst marks in the NFL.

Lewis, who coached the Bengals from 2003 to 2018, served as a special adviser at Arizona State in 2019. He was named Coach of the Year in 2009 and led Cincinnati to seven playoff appearances. The 61-year-old holds a 131-122-3 regular-season record as a head coach against an 0-7 mark in postseason tilts.
