what are the rules for a good dual boot.linux windows 7

HI i read that there are different ways to do a dual boot. some of theme lead to more problem dans other.

i do have 2 hdd .what are the pros and cons of having the 2 OS on the same HDD vs having one OS on each hdd?

Any advices on that?
