The Cleveland Browns will interview former Green Bay Packers bench boss Mike McCarthy for their head coaching vacancy, a source told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

The Browns scheduled an interview with McCarthy last year for their head coaching role. However, the interview never happened, as the team instead decided to promote interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens to the job. He was dismissed at the end of a 6-10 season.

McCarthy has already interviewed with the Carolina Panthers. He spent the 2019 campaign self-scouting and preparing to re-enter the NFL. The 56-year-old owns a 125-77-2 career record and a championship ring from Super Bowl XLV.

The Browns have reportedly identified New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, and Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman as other candidates for their position.
