Problem uploading photos to desktop computer from a Flip phone

I have a Linux Ubuntu system which is about 10 years old. I have a flip phone from Consumer Cellular called the Doro 626 a few years old. I have a cable that fits the phone and goes into the port on the CPU but when I plug phone in, I get a message on the phone "USB not allowed" and I dont know where to go from there in order to upload photos from the camera. The phone acts as if it is charging up with bars on the screen and a red light blinking. But no icon on the desktop. Nothing else happens. Suggestions? Questions?
