Carson Wentz was unable to finish Sunday's wild-card game against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a head injury in the first quarter, and the quarterback apologized to his Philadelphia Eagles teammates for that after the game.

"He's like apologizing and stuff. It's like, 'Bro, it's out of your control,'" Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said after the loss, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

"He didn't let us down at all. We wouldn't be in this spot without Carson."

Wentz was evaluated for a head injury after taking a hit from Seahawks pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney in which his head was slammed into the turf. He had taken eight snaps and thrown just four passes at that point and didn't return to the game.

Though the Eagles have made three consecutive trips to the playoffs, Sunday's game was Wentz's first postseason contest. He missed the 2017 playoffs and Super Bowl victory after suffering a torn ACL late in the regular season. He also missed the 2018 playoffs due to a stress fracture in his back.

"I know it killed him to not be able to play," Eagles' third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld said. "I was with him on the sideline. I saw the hit and it was pretty tough. It's not according to anyone's plan, his plan, but I know his faith. He'll bounce back out of this."

In an Instagram post, Wentz admitted the head injury was "scary," but insisted he'll be just fine.

So dang proud of this team and how we battled and overcame so much this season. Not the ending we envisioned but we will all grow and be stronger because of it! The fight and resiliency that this team displayed was so impressive. Love these guys! Also, appreciate the thoughts and prayers- Im feeling good today and will be just fine! Head injuries are a scary thing so I appreciate everybody's thoughts and prayers. Hate not being out there to finish it out with my guys because of a play like that, but it's the unfortunate part of this game. It's all in Gods plan, not mine! Trusting in him TM Philly, year 4 was one fun ride. Appreciate the love and support- especially the real ones who were with us through the highs and lows Onward to next year... big things comin', believe that! #flyeaglesfly
