wandering over a border

Hi, once upon a time I played with computer stuff, back when being a whiz with awk was modern (!) so even though I do not faint at the sight of a CLI, things like C++, java, Perl and so on are not in my current skill set, and nor is any Linux yet. About ten years ago I put Ubuntu on a spare machine then did nothing with it. Now I have a need, one I will raise as required in the correct forums -- this is just an introduction beyond g'day.

When I retired from consulting long ago I was still running my own web, mail and DNS server, and kept it in action because that was convenient over buying services. Now (a while ago actually) that Apple has stripped its server offering back to useless, it remains convenient for continuity to keep running my own, but I need a transition beyond MacOS 10.12 and Server 5.3 to be able to run some useful tools. The solution appears to be a full migration to a Linux server, while retaining my OSX/iOS ecosystem for front end use by the family (business needs being long defunct).

My mission then, is to discover exactly where to go, learn how to migrate there, and to develop the skill set to maintain it, preferably this year. See you elsewhere in the forums, I expect.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=pblnMdZtQaI:v7Rvk6qFZ_Y:F7zBnMy latest?i=pblnMdZtQaI:v7Rvk6qFZ_Y:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=pblnMdZtQaI:v7Rvk6qFZ_Y:gIN9vFwpblnMdZtQaI
