WANTED: Pre-2005 Live CD/DVD ISOs for the historical record
by ObsessedHistorian from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4XNNK)
Hi LQ,
TL;DR: Please send me your pre-2005 Live CD/DVD ISOs for the historical record!
I am doing some research on earlier Linux live CD distributions, and I could really use your help.
First, I am having a hard time finding many important early Linux Live CD distributions. For example, KNOPPIX versions 3.1 to 3.3 ISOs seem to have disappeared from the web entirely. For example, even the KNOPPIX 3.1 at archive.org is a mislabeled KNOPPIX 3.7 (https://archive.org/details/knoppix-linux-3.1). Finding references to these early versions (md5sums, reviews) is easy. Finding the actual ISOs, not so much. I plan to archive all ISOs I can find at archive.org. (Other archive site suggestions are also welcome.)
Second, I am interested in learning about other early Live CD distributions. Stories, pointers, and ISOs greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!
