Gnupg issue
by bendipa from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4XS0V)
I'm having an issue changing the expiration date of my keys. I managed to change the date of my public key forwarding it a year as you can see I changed this to the current date. I was then asked if I want to change the expiry date of my sub-key (ssb). I then switched the key number to '1' as you can see by the asterisk. Keys are listed as follows:
sec rsa3072/***************
created: 2018-12-30 expires: 2021-01-10 usage: SC
trust: ultimate validity: ultimate
ssb rsa3072/***************
created: 2018-12-30 expired: 2019-06-28 usage: E
[ultimate] (1)* Paul Benson (**********) <fbsnr@yahoo.co.uk>
I tried to change the expiry date of the ssb key, but found I was in a loop, because as soon as I had done so this message appears. I tried a few more times with the same problem.
gpg: WARNING: Your encryption subkey expires soon.
gpg: You may want to change its expiration date too.
As I already had loaded this sub-key to change it, I can't see why it's stuck in this loop. I've done this successfully before without an issue so don't understand why I'm having this one now.
Any advice would be welcomed.
