AMD to Power Atos Supercomputer at ECMWF

Today Atos announced an a80 million contract with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) to supply its for a BullSequana XH2000 supercomputer. Powered by AMD EPYC 7742 processors, the new system will be the most powerful meteorological supercomputers in the world. "The Atos supercomputer will allow ECMWF to run its world-wide 15-day ensemble prediction at a higher resolution of about 10km, reliably predicting the occurrence and intensity of extreme weather events ahead of time."
