CUPS Prints Test Page and Libre Office but Nothing Else

I am running Debian Release 9 (stretch) with current kernel Linux 4.9.0-11-amd64 x86_64 on a Lenovo Think Pad. Everything was working fine, until I tried updating to CUPS 2.3.1 from the CUPS website. I got it installed, but it wouldn't work at all. I removed it and reinstalled the current CUPS version (2.2.1) from the Synaptic Package Manager. I can print a test page from CUPS and I can print a PDF from Libre Office Draw. The other applications' dialog boxes won't show my printer, even if I connect the printer directly to my laptop with a USB cable. I can do an lp print from the command line and get a plain text file or a PDF to print.

For now, lp print from the command line is my workaround. Maybe I can find a way to redirect other applictions to print by piping their commands through lp. Any suggestions?

My printer is an Epson ET-2760 connected wirelessly to my router. It works fine from my dual-boot desktop either running Linux Mint 64-bit or Windows 10.

I have seen a lot of problems on forums from other people who have tried to update CUPS. All I can say is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I plan to take my own advice from now on with CUPS.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=2o6i8EVrGrk:_AbCtheN5zQ:F7zBnMy latest?i=2o6i8EVrGrk:_AbCtheN5zQ:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=2o6i8EVrGrk:_AbCtheN5zQ:gIN9vFw2o6i8EVrGrk
