Can’t install a stable, live session of Cinnamon Mint 19.3 64-bit
by David G from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4Y4SX)
What I've done:
1. When trying to install a live session of "Mint Cinnamon" from a burn-verified DVD, the computer reaches the desktop, but after about 2 minutes of opening programs, or absolutely no activity on my part, Mint crashes and the computer reboots on its own. This has happened multiple times.
2. I don't have time to check Launch Menu/Administration/Driver Manager before Mint crashes. I did try to pick another graphics driver, a Nvidia driver, other than the video driver installed, but Mint froze before I could tell Mint to use it. And I don't really know if the video driver is the problem.
Hardware:
Dell Precision 3420 Tower (new as of 02/2017) running on Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), Intel Quad Core I5-6600 Processor, 8 GB RAM (4x2 slots), Nvidia Quadro K420 video card (2GB) with unused Intel onboard video card (disabled in Windows, can't disable it in the BIOS), RAID1 with two 500GB SATA hard drives, Intel NIC card and unused onboard Intel NIC, onboard Realtek sound card, wireless Logitec M510 mouse, wired Dell keyboard, DVD-burner, Dell 24" monitor. Computer has no current problems on Windows 7. BIOS up-to-date: "Legacy" enabled, "Legacy Option ROM" enabled, "Secure Reboot" disabled, UEFI can only be enabled if "Legacy" is disabled. (I use Firefox, Thunderbird, and Libre on Windows 7.)
Can someone please help me get a stable live session out of Cinnamon Mint so I can see how the program operates? Eventually I will want to duel-boot it with Windows 7, since I have programs like Adobe "After Effects" and "Photoshop", along with Autodesk "AutoCad" in Windows. Thank you in advance.
