Access a subpart of text file in C code

Hello everyone, Suppose if I'm accessing a txt file using file operations in my C code. In that, if I want to access a part of text file and store it as a string in my C code e.g. username = name_lastname, I want to store that name_lastname value in a string in C code, so how should I do it?
