Starting Xscreensaver with a Python "applet"
by L_Carver from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4Y6Y3)
By "applet" I mean an executable script. I'm assuming this is better than using a bash script from the desktop as, as far as I'm aware, this would only invoke Konsole if even for a second. (And I know about the old, old script-to-executable converter, but I don't know where to find it.)
I'm welcome to any other means, ie, assigning a hotkey via System Preferences, to accomplish this simple task.
There are times when I'm going AFK and would rather see the screensaver right away when I glance back at my system rather than what I was doing for X number of minutes before it starts running.
