Intel video hard freeze
by sombragris from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4Y887)
I use a Dell Inspiron laptop with an Intel chipset. I would like to report that so far I've experienced hard freezes on two occassions. I could move the mouse pointer but that's was it. The rest of the screen was unresponsive.
Found a line in syslog which read this:
1/21/20 9:50 PM****kernel[ 4460.919384] [drm:gen8_reset_engines [i915]] *ERROR* rcs0 reset request timed out: {request: 00000001, RESET_CTL: 00000001}
The first time was about two weeks before the Sun Jan 19 19:31:23 UTC 2020 ChangeLog where the intel video X11 driver was updated. The second one was today.
So, Slackware users with Intel video, beware.
