Corsair gives its Scimitar RGB gaming mouse the Elite treatment
Last year, Corsair revisited it's long-standing M65 gaming mouse, updating the design a little and improving the build quality. The resulting mouse was the M65 RGB Elite, which I gave a TR Recommended Award. Now it's time for Corsair's Scimitar mouse to undergo the same treatment.
The original Scimitar is not quite as old as the original M65, so not as much has changed with the introduction of the Scimitar RGB Elite. The sensor has been upgraded from a unit with a max CPI of 16,000, to the same PixArt PMW3391 optical sensor in the M65 RGB Elite and Ironclaw RGB, which is able to reach 18,000 CPI. The sensor fared well in our tests, so it should be ready for some serious gaming action.
The build quality is also said to be improved, with Omron switches rated for 50 million click and a sturdy scroll wheel. The scroll wheels on Corsair mice have been a sticking point for me before, so I hope this new Elite unit has a similar scroll wheel to that of it's M65 RGB Elite brother, and not the Ironclaw RGB. Otherwise, the Scimitar RGB Elite still features the same smooth, sculpted design and key slider for the twelve side buttons intended for MMO and MOBAs. Fortunately for those interesting in picking one of these updated Scimitars, Corsair has not upped the price of the Elite unit, as both versions of the mouse retail for $80.
