Printer crashing with CUPS, PS101 and HP LJ6P
by linuxbird from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4YEB2)
On my Slackware server, I have CUPS running. It was crashing which I isolated to large files.
The configuration is the server > PS101 (netgear) > HP LJ6P
The PS101 is a Netgear "print spooler" which is being used to take a printer stream via ethernet, and place it on a parallel port for the HP LJ6P printer.
In CUPS I have upped the RIPCache parameter to 1536m, as the resulting spool file is rather large. (704mb)
I get 40 or so pages of dense graphics, and then the printer prints out what appears to be @PCL commands, and stops printing. After a short pause, the document restarts printing from page 1.
Simply printing a few pages does not get this behavior, and the printing is fast and responsive. I have tried a bunch of things and am kind of perplexed, and would appreciate a pointer or two if someone has had any similar experience.
