Trouble getting function keys to work in Debian

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T540p. I am running Debian 10. I recently acquired this computer and I have trouble getting the function keys to work. In the past I've always had a separate row of function keys (e.g., F1, F2, etc.) but on this model the function keys are combined with other key functions. Is it that Debian will not correspond to this keyboard layout or is there a way to get it to work? Pressing the Fn key while pressing the function keys does nothing. Thank you.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=8PBxdUTUxBU:V-8_6MNTVQY:F7zBnMy latest?i=8PBxdUTUxBU:V-8_6MNTVQY:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=8PBxdUTUxBU:V-8_6MNTVQY:gIN9vFw8PBxdUTUxBU
