Linux Mint sees the 4K tv, but TV doesn't see the computer - Driver?

I am using Linux Mint 19.3 Mate. I just bought a TCL series6 55" 4K TV and I have connected a Dell Precision M4600 (9 or 10 years old) via the HDMI port to on of the TV's HDMI ports. In the Linux Displays setting it identifies the external monitor, but it does not give any resolutions higher than 1920 x 1080 and it does not display anything on the TV. The TV's display is set to the HDMI port and it says it is not seeing a signal.
- When I hook up a Windows computer the same way through the HDMI ports the TV displays the Windows desktop. So the TV identifies signal on that port.
and
- When i hook up a widescreen 28" LG monitor to the Linux computer via HDMI it does recognize the monitor and displays on it. So the computer port is connected.
Seems it has something to do with the dell not being able to drive the 4K resolution? The Linux Displays window does not show available resolutions above 1920x1080.
What can I do? Is there a TCL 55" 4K driver available for Mint?
