TP-Link TL-WN822N(US) v5 USB Wi-Fi support in Slackware 14.2 x64 stable (multilib)

Hello forum members,

I am in the process of getting a desktop machine ready for dedicated Slackware use. The desktop PC only has Ethernet connector and no Wi-Fi, so i decided to shop for a Linux supported USB Wi-Fi card. I picked up a TP-Link TL-WN822N(US) v5 USB Wi-Fi adapter.

Now interestingly, this Linux supported TP-Link adapter is not working under my existing Slackware 14.2 stable (multilib) laptop with kernel 4.4.38. It is being detected though but no initialization. And the command output information is not very detailed.
Also, the device and the box say it is hardware version 5, but the info. from the commands below state it is version 4?

Any forum members who have faced a similar dilemma? Does this adapter work under Linux as advertised? Is there some workaround/configuration that needs to be done to get this working under Slackware?

Please find output from commands to probe the hardware listed below.

It shows up under the networks icon, BUT i am not able to connect to Wi-Fi networks. I am able to connect to the Wi-Fi network using the laptop inbuilt Atheros adapter.
I ran similar commands as above in Knoppix also.

Any assistance will be appreciated!

Thank you for your time and regards.
