Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been awarded 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, the NFL announced Saturday.

Murray beat out Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown, and Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders. Murray collected 26 1/2 of 50 total votes while Jacobs finished second with 13.

The No. 1 overall selection in the 2019 draft, Murray became the second rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for at least 3,500 yards and rush for 500 yards or more. Cam Newton, the 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year, threw for 4,051 yards and rushed for an additional 706 yards in his first year.

The comparisons to Newton don't stop there, either, as Murray became the first Heisman winner to be selected first overall and win Offensive ROY since the Carolina Panthers QB.

The 22-year-old led the Cardinals to a 5-10-1 record, throwing for 3,722 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also ran for 544 yards and four TDs.

Murray's standout campaign is even more impressive when you consider the struggles of the Cardinals' O-line, which allowed its rookie pivot to get sacked a league-leading 48 times.
