Tried to delete dual boot, grub error and no windows install media. PLEASE HELP :(
by dreadknot101 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4YZPG)
Hopefully someone here can help, I really messed up!
So I was trying to delete dual boot partition, I restarted my computer and it booted up to an error of "no such device grub recovery screen".
I also do not have windows on a CD or USB, I thought I did, but turns out it was Linux mint on the USB stick. So I could at least boot with USB stick luckily, then selected compatibility and it brought me to the Linux install OS, which I am typing from now.
Yes, I am a total noob and barely know what I'm talking about. I'll admit, I know much, much more about windows than I do of Linux.
Anyway, I thought I could maybe get windows install or some kind of recovery onto the USB using Linux because I have no other computer and in a real desperate spot. But that wont let me mount it/open the USB, let alone install anything on it to make it a bootable drive for windows.
What are my options here? Can I somehow repair the grub rescue screen through the linux mint install OS or create a windows boot/repair USB drive or is there another way such as repairing the damaged partition of Linux with what I'm using?
Please have patience, I know next to nothing about Linux and regret not knowing more now... its buggered everything up and I have no windows now, damn. Hopefully there is an easy fix, I just havent a clue where to start
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated
Dave
