Console login

Hi,
Need some help here.
I uninstalled nvidia proprietary drivers and change the vid card to amd.
After boot up, I can login to KDE but can't login to console (it'll give a blank screen with blinking line cursors). It seems that the screen resolution is wrong on screen? (the actual text is there but just not visible?)
Also can Slackware 14.2 use the latest kernel v5 from Slackware-current?
Anyone can help?
