xfce4-notifyd not started: unusual delay until successfull unmount of external storage devices

Hi all,

I'm running a Slackware64-current laptop that I updated about two months ago from 14.2.

Since the upgrade I noticed that unmounting external hard drives, SD cards or USB sticks takes very long in thunar, while thunar itself doesn't react in that time to other input. Once it is done (about 30 secs) all is fine again and thunar is responding like nothing happened. This behavior is very consistent, even with a new user account created just to test this. This happens in Xfce4 - Eric's plasma packages with dolphin as file manager have no problem unmounting the devices almost instantly.

I found one culprit but am somewhat lost at deciding what the proper solution is. It looks as if xfce4-notifyd is not being started and thunar seems to be waiting to deliver a notification. After the ca. 30 seconds delay it seems to give up. I can make thunar unmount without the delay by starting /usr/lib64/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd by hand, which is no big thing of course but which seems strange.

Is it a misconfiguration on my part or do others experience as well?

I am not aware of any notification daemon running, but even then the other notification daemon should receive the notification and handle it. At least ps shows me no other notification daemon in the list.

Steps I took that didn't change the problem: Reinstallation of dbus and xfce4-notifyd. Deleting the users .xinitrc and .xsession. Creating a new user without any modifications.
