Intel has yet to unveil its 10th-Gen Comet Lake desktop CPUs. Rumors have the reveal coming in April, but the chipmaking giant hasn't confirmed anything as of yet. But a credible benchmark for the Intel Core i7-10700K found its way to the internet via reliable info leaker @TUM_APISAK on twitter.

The benchmark seems to confirm some specs for the Intel Core i7-10700K, including the base and boost cores. These are rumors, of course, so make sure you get your daily intake of sodium with the info, but here's what TUM_APISAK discovered.

The numbers come from a 3DMark benchmark record that shows the chip running on an ECS Z490H6-A2 motherboard. The processor has a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a boost clock of 5.29 GHz. That runs across 8 cores with hyperthreading on 16 threads. Comparatively, the ir?t=techreport09-20&l=alb&o=1&a=B005404Intel Core i9-9900K runs at 3.6 GHz and 5 GHz across the same number of cores and threads. Rumored specs for the Core i9-10900 show a slightly lower boost clock of 5.1 GHz, but with two additional cores.

The 10th-Gen processors will be built on Intel's 14-nm process. The company has struggled with the jump to 10 nm for some time. Tom's Hardware notes that the aforementioned i9-9900K can easily suck up 200 watts of power easily, and with Comet Lake staying at 14 nm, we can expect it to ask for even more.

Even so, gamers should be pleased with those boost clocks, and overclockers, too. It's not a given anymore that Intel's next-generation chips will dominate the market the way previous generations have. With the company having moved away from its strategy of switching architecture and then shrinking it, we're in somewhat uncharted waters in the CPU market.
