BL5.1-64bit and 32bit - remmina with black screen

I have two computers, one is a desktop with Mint 19.3 MATE 64bit installed and the other one is a netbook with BL5.1-Legacy installed.
On both machines, there's also vino and remmina installed.
The connection between these two doesn't work.
I'm asked for the password, so I guess the connection is set up properly, but I don't see the desktop of the remote machine.
Instead of that, I only see a black screen and the mouse pointer doesn't move either.
Vino is installed according to this guide.
And because I already had this problem with the version of remmina from Synaptic, I updated remmina according to the PPA section of this guide.
But still there's the black screen.
Any ideas about what might have gone wrong, please?
