using Simply Accounting 2014 with Red Hat Enterprise
by Brant from LinuxQuestions.org on (#4ZMZJ)
I recently picked up some old installation disks for Simply Accounting, including one for "Sage 50 Premium Accounting 2014, and was interested to see that the box listed as possible operating systems Red Hat Enterprise 5.0 and Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10.
My curiosity is partly historical interest: did anyone actually do this? did it work? Did Sage do the heavy lifting, or did Red Hat work up an enabler like Wine?
And I suppose partly grumpiness: I used to use Simply Accounting, and was always annoyed it wouldn't run on Linux. Even though I use mostly Gnucash now, it would be amusing to try to make this work.
