NFL prospect Tua Tagovailoa won't have much choice on where he lands in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has a team in mind if he were given a chance to pick his destination.

"If you're saying to me if I can choose what team I want to play on, as far as my favorite team growing up, then I'd probably tell you the Cowboys," Tagovailoa said to NFL Network's Steve Wyche in a one-on-one interview.

"But, I mean, they're so far down."

Dallas owns the 17th overall pick in April's draft. Tagovailoa, a former national title-winning quarterback at Alabama, is projected to be one of the first passers off the board.

Taking draft position out of the equation, the Cowboys have an entrenched starting quarterback in Dak Prescott, though he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

"Nah, I'm not trying to bump him. I'll learn under him," Tagovailoa said with a laugh. "I'd handle it the way that the coaches there want to handle it. Honestly, I just want to be able to play again. I wouldn't mind learning under whatever guy that's the starter. Give me a whole year to rest up and then go back out and compete."

Tagovailoa's 2019 season ended in November when he suffered a fractured hip. Doctors told the young passer the fracture has healed completely.

"I feel really good but at the same time still want to be cautious with what the doctors have said," Tagovailoa said. "So I have been sitting down and throwing, working my rotator cuff."
