Former Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. will undergo surgery and be out for four-to-six weeks after battling a core muscle injury and pubic bone inflammation, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Shenault initially opted to avoid surgery, choosing instead to run at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday. But the injury hasn't healed as expected.

The dynamic pass-catcher ran his 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds despite dealing with inflammation. He had hoped to participate fully in drills, but the injury limited him.

Shenault is a projected first-round pick, but it's unclear how the injury will impact his draft stock. In theScore's most recent mock draft, the Buffalo Bills selected him 22nd overall.

The versatile wideout struggled with the core issue throughout his final year in Colorado. However, he still recorded 925 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns for the Buffaloes.
