Navigating to network folders and Nautilus bookmarks
by jcmahne from LinuxQuestions.org on (#50500)
I cannot explore any network folders from some programs. For example Bash, WINE 5.0 , Monodevelop.
I can explore them from Geany. Geany shows the bookmarks of Nautilus and I can browse them to access the network files.
I've tried running as Sudo too.
Its not a huge problem, as I can always copy files with Nautilus, its just inconvenient.
I've tried to create mount points to navigate to, but they don't seem to work. I'm on Mint 19.3. Smbmount has been deprecated, and mount.cifs simply won't work. Some are saying that is a bug in ubuntu/mint 19.
I've tried sudo mount.cifs //COMPAQ/Documents /home/jm/mounts/compaqFIles -o username=jm, password=jm, domain=WORKGROUP
I get error messages that //Compaq/Documents does not exist, but it does.
I don't know much about networks, so any input will be appreciated.
Thanks for the friendly forums.
