The "Linux is like old cars" metaphor
by binkyd from LinuxQuestions.org on (#505HG)
I'm going to assume you're all familiar with the comparison of running Linux to that of repairing and maintaining your own car/cycle....
A couple of minutes ago this fancy Dell box's fan kicked in - not loud, but noticeable. And I heard a hint of Shelby Cobra coming from somewhere.
And yeah, I'd opened the box, swapping out a disk, and had moved a cable-of-course-without-noticing to where it was just a-humming along with the fan - it was actually rumbling. Really.
Gave me the idea - you gotta see it coming...
It would be a trip to overlay engine sounds on a "hot-rod" computer. Some Thrush mufflers, maybe.
Ha!
(Disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea if this would be even do-able.)
