Bouye excited to join Broncos
When the new league year opens March 18, A.J. Bouye will have a new address.
The veteran cornerback is the centerpiece of an agreed-upon trade between the Jaguars and Broncos that will send Bouye from Jacksonville to Denver.
Bouye, who learned he was a candidate to be released by the Jags, is looking forward to joining a Broncos defense led by head coach and defensive maven Vic Fangio.
"I watched Vic when he was (defensive coordinator) with the (Chicago) Bears. So, I'm excited, man," he told Mike Klis of 9News on Tuesday.
"The first thing that came to mind, I was definitely paying attention to Drew (Lock) and his quarterback play," Bouye continued. "I saw how they played certain teams out of the division, like Houston. And I just like this scheme. I think it's a good opportunity for (defensive backs) to make plays. And how they finished the season strong, I was paying attention to all that."
The eight-year pro spent the past three seasons with the Jaguars, helping the team reach the AFC title game in 2017. However, Jacksonville has gone 11-21 and finished last in the AFC South in the two seasons since.
