Learning pronunciation: play-record-play software needed

As a user, I need a voice recorder allowing me this:
1. Play a .wav/.mp3 file to the earphones and record from the mic simultaneously.
2. While doing 1., do NOT overwrite the above file but store it somewhere in RAM.
3. Play the combination of what was obtained in 1.
Ideas for pieces of software for Ubuntu (and, perhaps, Debian) allowing me to do this?
