Nvidia launched its game streaming service, GeForce Now (GFN), at the beginning of last month, and since then, the games on offer have been in flux. Activision Blizzard, despite working with Nvidia on GFN in its beta stages, removed its entire game library from the service only a week after its launch. Two weeks later, Bethesda pulled most of its games from the service as well.

Nvidia has now announced that 2K Games is withdrawing its game library from GFN. As with Activision Blizzard, Nvidia said it is working with 2K Games to bring its library back to GFN. However, for now, the following games will no longer be playable on the service:

" BioShock 2 Remastered
" Bioshock Infinite
" BioShock Remastered
" Borderlands 2
" Borderlands 3
" Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced
" Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
" Mafia III
" NBA 2K Playgrounds 2
" NBA 2K17
" NBA 2K18
" NBA 2K19
" Sid Meier's Civilization V
" Sid Meier's Civilization VI
" The Darkness II
" The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA TOUR
" WWE 2K19
" WWE 2K20
" WARRIORS OROCHI 4
" XCOM 2

What makes these publishers' decisions to remove their games from GFN so fascinating is that, unlike Google Stadia, GFN is not its own ecosystem. Gamers must own games on a separate digital distribution service in order to play them on GFN, so it isn't as though Nvidia is distributing games without the permission of the publishers. GFN simply allows gamers to play their games on new Nvidia hardware. Thus, the motivations of the publishers in removing their games is not so clear.
