Report: XFL allowing players to sign with NFL teams
The XFL has informed its players they can sign with NFL teams upon completion of their exit physicals, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The league suspended its season Thursday in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The XFL didn't explicitly say it won't attempt to finish the season later, but the league noted its commitment to playing a full campaign in 2021 and beyond.
XFL standouts such as P.J. Walker, Cam Phillips, and Jordan Ta'amu figure to receive at least some interest from NFL teams. The quarterback-receiver tandem of Walker and Phillips had led the Houston Roughnecks to a 5-0 record.
All XFL players will be given their base pay and benefits for the 2020 regular season, the league said.
