Setting up the Linux Desktop ??

This SC has an older desktop pc that I would like to set up for Linux only. There are currently no OS on the HDD as it was erased.
Have a few Linux distros that I would like to install/run to get familiar with the different distros.
Just a thought! Is it possible to install Linux distros on the HDD than choice/select which Linux to startup? What/how would I do this?
What would be the best procedure to follow/do? Any an all suggestions, assistance concerning this matter would be appreciated. Hope this helps? If this has already been addressed on the Forum. You can just tell me where to go an I'll understand. Thank you very much! PW
