Report: Bears agree to terms with Barkevious Mingo on 1-year, $1.2M deal
The Chicago Bears and linebacker Barkevious Mingo have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Mingo's contract with the Bears is worth $1.187 million with $887,000 in guaranteed money, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Mingo appeared in all 16 games for the Houston Texans last season but was limited to only 7% of his team's defensive snaps. He posted just six tackles and two quarterback hits in his first and only year with the Texans.
Chicago will be Mingo's sixth career NFL team. The LSU product spent three seasons with the Cleveland Browns after they selected him sixth overall in 2013, then had one-season stints with the New England Patriots (2016), Indianapolis Colts (2017), and Seattle Seahawks (2018).
Seattle sent the 29-year-old to Houston along with a 2020 third-round pick and linebacker Jacob Martin in the Jadeveon Clowney trade last August.
The Bears continue to add defensive depth after reportedly signing defensive end Robert Quinn and cornerback Artie Burns. The team also re-signed veteran linebacker Danny Trevathan and safety Deon Bush.
