The world is currently under siege by a novel coronavirus disease, known as COVID-19, which has disrupted our entire way of life. Nearly all gatherings of more than a handful of people have been postponed or canceled. A few countries, and even some states, have enacted complete lockdowns of their citizens, with exceptions for only the most vital services.

Among those essentials is electricity. The power industry continues to do what it does best, provide electricity 24/7/365. Doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, the military, and other public service professionals tend to get the most recognition during national emergencies, as they should, but the men and women who keep the lights on deserve praise too. It's often a thankless job, but reliable electricity is one of the most important services there is, often needed so the other heroes can perform their roles.

During this time of uncertainty, we at POWER would like to salute all of the people working behind the scenes to keep the power flowing. We also want you to know that we're continuing to do our best to provide the important information you need to do your job effectively and efficiently. We are providing timely coronavirus coverage as the situation evolves, and keeping readers abreast of how conditions are impacting companies and workers around the world. Whether it's how the virus is affecting planned outages, how regulatory agencies are responding, how stimulus packages will support the industry, or how key staff are staying safe, POWER has it covered, and you can access the information around the clock via computer, smart phone, or tablet.

The fact is, we're all in this together, and we'll get through it together. POWER was established in 1882, so it has survived through many challenging times. The brand has witnessed pandemics in 1918, 1957, and 1968. It has also endured World Wars, stock market crashes, and various other types of chaos. Today, POWER persists as the only power industry publication that addresses all fuel types and technologies through print and digital media, and with in-person events. We're here for you in whatever form you desire.

Whatever the future holds, consider us a resource-and a friend. If you have a story to tell, we want to share it. If you have a problem, we're here to help you solve it. Our team has been brainstorming on new ways to do our part and contribute in any way we can. We would like to engage with you, and learn what you and your company are doing differently as a result of the virus. Have you developed any best practices you could share to help others succeed? We know a lot is being done by power companies around the world, not only for business reasons, but also to help communities and people in need. Let us know what you've done, so we can spread the word and offer hope for those feeling despair.

We're promoting the hashtag #PowerOnTogether as a way to easily find content related to the coronavirus. Please include it in social media posts when sharing information about what your company is doing to thrive in this difficult time. Feel free to reach out to me personally (alarson@accessintel.com), or to any member of our staff (editor@powermag.com), if there is some way POWER can help or if you have an important message you feel the power community needs to hear. We welcome your feedback, as we continue providing the power-related news and information so critical to the industry.

Stay safe and healthy!
