Problem installing Slackware64 to external SSD
by Dan Suson from LinuxQuestions.org on (#51BS7)
I'm sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything.
I'm trying to install Slackware64-current on to an external SSD connected to my computer via USB. I have been able to get the standard installation iso on to a DVD and from there went through the usual steps to install all of the packages onto the SSD. My problem comes when I finish the configuration and try to reboot from the USB.
During the configuration I installed LILO to the root partition (not MBR) of the SSD. I can go into the boot loader on the computer and tell it to boot from the USB drive, but then LILO gives me the string of "08 08 08 ..." that comes when it doesn't load correctly. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what that is. Any help is welcomed.
