Why does a directory named "file:" keep appearing in my home directory

*: My "search-foo" is bad on me

On occasion a directory named file: keeps appearing in my home directory. It probably has something to do with my email client. I use Thunderbird 68.4.1 (64 bit).

The directory in question looks like:

/home/kevin/file:/home/kevin/.local/share/local-mail/
with three empty directories in the lowest level named cur, new, and tmp

*: How and why does this happen?

*: How can I stop this other than deleting them manually (or via a script)

*: Would you advise that I pin the testing version of Thunderbird to (maybe) fix this problem?

Thank you for any help you can give me, and have a good day!latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=AZZlzzg6ne8:N5HVZdroUs8:F7zBnMy latest?i=AZZlzzg6ne8:N5HVZdroUs8:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=AZZlzzg6ne8:N5HVZdroUs8:gIN9vFwAZZlzzg6ne8
