NBD not connecting
by ov10fac from LinuxQuestions.org on (#51RFE)
I am running a Ubuntu Server on a Dell server and Fedora 30 on an HP laptop. My laptop does not have a CD/DVD so I want to use the CD on the server to watch/rip DVDs. I have installed NBD Client on the Ubuntu server and it seems to be running fine. I have NBD-client installed on my laptop and it seems to be working fine.
But when I try to connect to a DVD on my server, I get an error that states:
nbd-client 192.168.10.230 2000 /dev/nbd0
Warning: the oldstyle protocol is no longer supported.
This method now uses the newstyle protocol with a default export
Negotiation: ..size = 7700MB
Error: Couldn't resolve the nbd netlink family, make sure the nbd module is loaded and your nbd driver supports the netlink interface.
I am at a loss as to what exactly this means.
Thanks.
